About this comparison
Based on publisher and author information, contents and the sources listed below. We have not completed full reviews of these books.
Quick answer
These books do different jobs. Eli Schwartz’s Product-Led SEO (2021) is about deciding what SEO should accomplish for a business, and the author says it is not a step-by-step guide. Ryan Stewart and David Krevitt’s The SEO Blueprint (self-published, 2020) is exactly that kind of guide: one agency’s process for choosing keywords, deciding what to write, auditing and prioritizing pages. If you are setting strategy, read Schwartz; if you need a process to execute, read Stewart and Krevitt.
What each book is about
Product-Led SEO: The Why Behind Building Your Organic Growth Strategy is Eli Schwartz’s book, published by Houndstooth Press in 2021. The author positions it for marketing managers, executives and experienced practitioners, and emphasizes the reasoning behind a strategy and its connection to business results. He describes an approach to developing your own practices rather than following a universal recipe. Author’s description.
The SEO Blueprint: How to Get More Organic Traffic Right NOW is a 275-page paperback by Ryan Stewart and David Krevitt, self-published in February 2020 (ISBN 9780578230917). It is not Glen Allsopp’s SEO Blueprint course or other books with the same title. Open Library record. The book is built on the workflow of Stewart’s former agency, WEBRIS, which the description says was acquired after about ten years of client work; Julia McCoy wrote the foreword. No public table of contents was found. The retailer description lists choosing and qualifying keywords, using competitor pages to rank for more terms, deciding what content to write, which pages not to build links to, site auditing with a list of errors that block page-one rankings, prioritizing high-potential pages and site structure for head terms. Retailer description.
Where they differ
Why versus how. Schwartz is about why and where to invest in organic growth, and explicitly not a manual. The SEO Blueprint is a manual, organized around decisions in sequence. One informs what you aim at; the other tells you how one agency did the work.
Reader. Schwartz writes for managers, executives and experienced practitioners making or explaining strategic choices. The SEO Blueprint’s description addresses site owners and practitioners ready to act on a process.
Recipe versus framework. Schwartz describes developing your own practices rather than following a universal recipe. The SEO Blueprint offers a defined workflow derived from client work, and its retailer copy is written as direct-response sales copy. Judge it on how well the process fits your site.
Evidence and extras. Product-Led SEO has an author description and bibliographic record; The SEO Blueprint has no public contents, so its scope comes from the retailer description. It promises access to the authors’ tools and templates, but we could not confirm that offer is still live. Note that “product-led SEO” also names an approach, and later articles about it may go beyond the 2021 text.
A third option for AI search
Neither book covers how a business shows up in AI answers; both predate current AI search. If that is your question, AI SEO for Dummies is a 2026 Wiley For Dummies title on visibility in AI-powered search, including AEO and GEO. It is beginner-friendly and step by step, Wiley names business owners, marketers and SEO professionals as its readers, and a free companion toolkit includes a quickstart checklist, a First 30 Days worksheet, trackers and report templates, with no email required. It adds a subject; it is not a substitute for a strategy book or a traditional SEO process.
